I am proud to offer walking tours of the Historic District and the Madison City Cemetery. There are at least 50 Historic Houses and Churches and sites on my walking tour. That number doesn’t even include the historic Commercial District. I take great pride in sharing the stories of the families and the slaves that built the beautiful homes and buildings that has made our town famous. I make sure you leave here feeling like you have had an intimate introduction to the ancestors both free and enslaved that walked the streets of Madison.
The Madison City Cemetery is the final resting place of 2 Revolutionary Soldiers, a General and 147 marked Confederate graves to name just a few. The Cemetery is also home to some of the most famous Stone Carvers in the country. Walk the hallowed ground of the slave cemetery and potters fields. To top it all off the city is currently constructing a perimeter walking path for your enjoyment. Make it an afternoon adventure with a packed lunch from one of our wonderful restaurants.
Walking tours take approximately 1.5 hours and are on relatively flat terrain. Tours are $15 per person. Discounts for large groups and school groups. Please call for family and child pricing. No charge for children under 6 however the 4 person or $50 minimum must be met.
